The New Jerusalem Bible (NJB) is a notable Catholic translation of the Bible, first published in 1985. It has established itself as the most widely used Roman Catholic Bible outside of the United States and carries the imprimatur of Cardinal George Basil Hume. This translation adheres closely to its predecessor, the Jerusalem Bible, by being rendered directly from the original Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic texts. Notably, it references the 1973 French translation, the Bible de Jérusalem, in instances where the text allows for multiple interpretations. Additionally, the NJB includes select introductions and notes from this earlier work, albeit with some modifications.

For users engaging with the NJB through digital platforms, it is important to note that the built-in text-to-speech (TTS) engine on Android devices is the Pico TTS engine. To enhance the audio experience, it is recommended to download and install the Google Text-to-Speech Engine, which offers superior voice quality. After installing the Google TTS engine, users will need to change their default TTS engine by navigating to:
